Wine lists for Riesling lovers

The official Riesling week may be over for now but there is always Riesling week in many of our top restaurants and wine bars. Here are our favourites for Rieslings of all kinds in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Växjö. Check out their wine lists by clicking on the restaurant’s info page.

  1. Tranan

    Tranan is a classic brasserie at Odenplan that is frequented by locals and tourists looking for genuine “husman” cuisine. But it is also a very interesting wine address. Tranan has 12000 bottles of wine in its cellar and is unique in that many of them are not on the list. Every now and then the Bordeaux, Burgundy and Italian treasures are brought up on the list.

  2. Dorsia

    Hotel and restaurant Dorsia is like a world of its own, drenched in gold, velvet curtains and Belle Époque-style. The restaurant is spacious and international. Dorsias wine list is very extensive, with over 2000 listings, and ranges from Tawny Port from 1855 to timeless bottles from France, Italy and the United States.

  3. Gastrologik & Speceriet

    Gastrologik is another one-star in Stockholm that would have earned more stars had Michelin used the same assessments as in France. Nordic produce delivered in 20 mesmerizing servings that change daily. The wine list focuses on classics in Europe with guest stars from the rest of the wine world. The sister restaurant Speceriet serves simpler dishes at the highest level and has 10 wines on its list that changes daily. Guests at Speceriet can also order wines from Gastrologik’s main wine list.

    For years, AG has been one of the best steak restaurants in Sweden. It also boasts a lively tapas bar and a wine list featuring 1000 wines with large chunks of Burgundy, Piedmont and California.

  5. Agrikultur

    Address: Roslagsgatan 43, 113 54 Stockholm

    The wood-fired oven is like a warm heart in the cosy little restaurant on Roslagsgatan. Magical dishes are brought from it by chefs Filip Fastén and Joel hlin. The wine list covers around 125 wines with a nice balance between France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

  6. Aloë

    Address: Svartlösavägen 52, 125 33 Älvsjö

    One of Sweden’s best restaurants is hidden behind a furniture store in a Stockholm suburb and that is perhaps why it took Michelin a few years to award it a star. If you can find it, you’re rewarded with a very original and sometimes spicy cuisine with influences ranging from Japan to North Africa. To the set menu you can drink a wine pairing or browse the Aloê wine list where France leads the numbers before the US and Italy.

  7. Bar Central Birger Jarlsgatan

    Bar Central Birger Jarlsgatan is the right place if you’re tired of new nordic minimalism. A hearty central European cuisine is served with either proper Pilsner or a very good range of Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners from Germany and Austria. Hungary and Croatia are also present on the list of over 200 wines.

  8. Djuret

    Djuret (The animal) is always evolving and it is therefore a good idea to check their website to see what the kitchen is up to at the moment. Whatever it is, it will be tasty and comfortable. At the bar the menu is a la carte and specials often including great wine deals. The wine cellar is legendary, good value and its wines can also be ordered from the sister venues Flickan and The Burgundy.

  9. Farang

    Farang takes guests on a journey to Southeast Asian cuisines. The restaurant is located in an old factory hall and the rustic backdrop contrasts with the warm atmosphere. The wine list at Farang is particularly impressive for an Asian restaurant with many classical districts represented. The focus is on Riesling and Pinot Noir.

  10. Folii

    Address: Erstagatan 21, 116 36 Stockholm

    Experienced sommeliers Béatrice Becher and Jonas Sandberg opened the wine bar they wanted to visit themselves and it’s loosely related to Territoriet in Oslo. There is a varied and very interesting mix of older vintages, regions and types on the Folii wine list. Folii uses Coravin to offer almost any wine by the glass. The name plays on the French word for madness, Folie.

  11. Oaxen Krog & Slip

    Oaxen Krog stands for Nordic cuisine delivered at the highest level, rewarded with two Michelin stars. If there were a world cup in gastronomic beauty, Oaxen would win it. The presentations are edible works of art. The wine list at Oaxen is classical with only European selections and it includes verticals of both famous and lesser known producers. In Oaxen’s bistro Slip, you can enjoy a simpler cuisine in a beautiful setting.

  12. Operakällaren

    Operakällaren in Stockholm’s Opera House is probably the most beautiful dining room in Sweden. And the service is like a scene from the Opera stage, professional, classic and warm. The menu is French-inspired, classical and executed at the highest level (one Michelin star). The wine list is massive, classical and carries over 1500 listings.

  13. Riche

    The restaurant has been named Riche since 1893 and carries the Swedish gastronomic legacy from master chef Tore Wretman. The cuisine is classically Swedish and the wine list boasts over 900 listings with the majority coming from classic French districts. The US, Italy and Germany are also represented.

  14. Sturehof

    Sturehof, founded in 1897, is one of Stockholm’s most classical brasseries and it has become an institution, serving fish and seafood 365 days per year to a mixed crowd in the heart of Stockholm. The wine list is classical with a special love for Burgundy.

  15. Teatergrillen

    Address: Nybrogatan 3, 114 34 Stockholm

    Teatergrillen opened in 1945 and is the sister restaurant of Riche, they also share the wine list. The dining room is one of the most beautiful in Stockholm and the classical cuisine and service are impeccable. Chances are you might notice one or two Swedish celebrities at any given night. The wine list boasts one of Stockholm’s heaviest Burgundy selections but with 900 listings, there is plenty of choice.

  16. W by Wijnjas

    Wijnjas classical wine cellar restaurant is related to the cheese store not far from it, and there is plenty of cheese connections on the menu. The Wijnjas wine list is large, varied and filled with excellent choices and deals.

  17. Bhoga

    One-star Michelin Bhoga has a seasonal way of sourcing produce, and courses are changed almost on a daily basis. The kitchen creates modern, Nordic fare with pure flavours and some playful surprises. The wine list emphasizes sustainable wines from small European producers, including even some from Sweden.

  18. PM & Vänner

    PM & Vänner is a gastronomy hotel and an ambitious bistro where Småland meets France. The PM wine list aims to embrace the greatest wines of the world with an open mind to the always changing wine scene. PM Wine list currently offers as selection of 4,200 different wines covering a wide variety of styles, prices, regions, producers and vintages. PM wine list highlight wines that reach maturity and are ready to drink.

  19. Sjömagasinet

    Sjömagasinet in the harbour is one of Gothenburg’s most classical venues. Here, restaurateur Ulf Wagner and head chef Gustav Trägårdh present innovative and classic seafood dishes. The airy restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, and service is impeccable. The wine list is extensive, with a focus on Old World classics. Don’t miss their selection of Burgundies.

  20. Pontus in the Air

    Without a doubt the best airport restaurant in Sweden. It even makes us go in advance to Arlanda before a flight and that is saying something. Great food, great wine cellar and Krug by the glass even at breakfast!

  21. Heaven 23

    Heaven 23 has much more to offer than just the stunning view from the hotel’s 23rd floor. The kitchen serves up modern dishes based on Scandinavian produce with Asian accents. Here you’ll also find the iconic King Size shrimp sandwich (over one million served) and one of the Nordic region’s best assortments of Austrian wines, in addition to a solid selection of wines from Bordeaux, Piedmont and California.

  22. Upper House

    Exclusive simplicity is the theme of Upper House Dining, the restaurant at the top of hotel Gothia Towers. Awarded a Michelin star, and with a great sense of detail, guest are presented tasting menus featuring playful and innovative dishes from the best seasonal produce. The wine list is extensive with a wide range of styles, regions, producers and vintages – ranging from natural wines from Beaujolais to iconic Napa Cab-producers. As of recently, you can also enjoy small dishes from the star kitchen in the lounge at Upper House.
